Eyemouth Harbour Trust
Red Bridge Removal and Path Closure
From Monday 15th June 2026
Eyemouth Harbour Trust will temporarily remove the Red Bridge to undertake essential repairs and refurbishment works after routine maintenance identified a failure in the bridge’s hydraulic system. To support a resilient long-term solution, the Trust is currently scheduled to remove the bridge on Monday 15 June 2026, subject to weather and final operational arrangements.
The bridge will be taken offsite while repairs and refurbishment works are undertaken. The temporary removal will support essential operational access to the boatyard while works progress.
Pedestrians are advised to follow the marked diversion routes. Full details of the path closure and maps of the diversion will be available when the closure is in place here on Scottish Borders Council website – Path closures | Scottish Borders Council
We fully recognise the importance of the Red Bridge to harbour users, local businesses, and residents. Our priority is to restore full functionality as quickly and safely as possible, and we are working to return the bridge to operation as soon as we can. We will continue to update as work progresses and appreciate the understanding shown while we address this issue.
The Trust is working in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, alongside other stakeholders to reduce disruption as much as possible while repair work progress.
