Eyemouth Harbour Apprentice Ryan Forsyth Completes Port Operative Apprenticeship With Port Training Services

Eyemouth Harbour apprentice Ryan Forsyth has successfully completed his Port Operative Apprenticeship, delivered by Port Training Services (PTS).

Ryan completed the apprenticeship alongside his role at Eyemouth Harbour, gaining valuable knowledge and practical skills across a range of port operations.

The Port Operative Apprenticeship is designed to equip apprentices with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work safely and effectively within the ports sector. Combining workplace experience with industry-focused training, the programme provides apprentices with a strong foundation to develop their careers in the industry.

Ryan’s successful completion marks an important milestone in his career and highlights the opportunities available to those looking to develop their skills within the ports sector.

Paul Parry, Head of Training at PTS, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Eyemouth Harbour and Ryan as he begins his Port career.  Eyemouth Harbour has made a significant investment in Ryan, who has shown real commitment to his chosen profession. His journey is a fantastic example of developing new talent in the Port sector and will help us to promote and inspire the next generation to consider a career in the maritime sector. We look forward to seeing how Ryan continues to develop his career at Eyemouth Harbour in the years to come.”

Paul Robinson, Ryan’s Assessor at PTS, added: “It’s been a pleasure supporting Ryan through his Port Operative Apprenticeship. Ryan has completed the programme to a very high standard, consistently demonstrating professionalism while working on site at Eyemouth Harbour. Through his hard work and dedication, he has developed into a capable and safety-conscious operative. Ryan is a great example of how apprenticeships can help build the skilled workforce our industry needs.”

Christine Bell, CEO of Eyemouth Harbour Trust said “We congratulate Ryan on completing his Port Operative Apprenticeship. His commitment, enthusiasm and hard work throughout the programme have been exemplary. Investing in the professional development of our team is a key priority for Eyemouth Harbour Trust, and Ryan’s achievement demonstrates the value of apprenticeships in building the skills needed to support the future of the harbour and the wider maritime sector. We would also like to thank Port Training Services for their excellent support and partnership throughout Ryan’s apprenticeship, helping to provide the high-quality training and guidance that has contributed to his success.”

Brendan Bates, Harbour Master at Eyemouth Harbour Trust, added: “It is fantastic to see a young person from the local area coming into the port and maritime industry and developing a career here at Eyemouth Harbour. Ryan has come a long way since starting his apprenticeship, and it has been great to see his confidence, knowledge and practical skills develop throughout the programme.

“Ryan has shown a real commitment to learning and to his role within the harbour, and he should be extremely proud of what he has achieved. Apprenticeships such as this are a great opportunity to bring young people into the industry, give them practical experience and provide them with the skills and knowledge to build a long-term career.

“Congratulations to Ryan on completing his apprenticeship. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop and play an important role within the team at Eyemouth Harbour.”
